My take on Juniper network presentation at mobility field day 9

Juniper prestation was a complete tour of new and improve feature coming to the Mist AI clouds. The following are what I think is most relevant to my day to day jobs and impression on these improvement and feature

Improvement to Marvis

Listening to Bob Friday talk about AI and Marvis is quite an experience.  The improvement is the ability the “ingest” user experience data from a 3rd party app. The first application that can take advantage of this development in Zoom. By adding zoom data in Marvis engine and correlating with all the data already collected. The Mist AI can now start to predict the Zoom call experience and with machine learning, even get Marvis to raise an alert for the issue or even fix it.

In the demonstration at the end of the presentation, the have display some cool feature using the Marvis agent, we can now ask for the roaming of a workstation and get the rssi from the Access-point and from the client itself, this will greatly help site design and troubleshooting

Introducing a new wifi 6E Access-point

The new AP24, this access point is a Tri-radio, Tri-band with Dual band concurrent, The access-point can operate in a 2.4/5 ghz or a 5ghz/6ghz configuration. This Access-point is now ship in a 100% recyclable material.

Juniper also presented about Outdoor 6ghz and Standard Power mode. And the impact of Automated Frequency Coordination on the Radio Resource Management and the improvement made to the RRM

They close this part of the presentation by presenting the Location Aware AIOps. This feature is basically an auto placement and auto orientation of the access-points on a map

Mist Access Assurance (NAC)

Mist is now having an integrated Network access control in their cloud. This new feature did spark some very interesting conversation concerning latency for authentication and the impact of loosing the access to the cloud on the authentication. This new feature will be available via a new licence.

Working in an environment where most of our location are serverless and all apps are either in our private ou public cloud, I see this solution as a viable alternative to our current NAC system.

Mist Premium analytics

This new feature that provides long term analytic on contextual insights from your network. This will help capacity planning and identify the trending application that will change the traffic pattern. It also gives more detail on RF insight as it displays the RRM changes what triggered them on a long period of time it will help identify what are the impact of DFS on my network and display the top channel that are impacted and remove them from the channel plan at this particular site, it also will help understanding the interference trends. Mist premium analytics is licences based that can be add to your Mist cloud
